Basically, I felt blue today. Today's list is going to be purely negative. Sorry about that.
All of these songs are from my favorite video game series, Silent Hill, which has the extremely appreciated song writer Akira Yamaoka, whom wrote beautiful lyrics for Mary Elizabeth McGlynn to sing, paired with the perfect instrumentals for today's mood.
1. Akira Yamaoka - Magdalene
This song made me feel hopeless, sad, but also relaxed. The lonely piano is so beautiful, but I think what made this song special is the silence between the sets of seven notes. I can think of countless ways this could be used in a movie.
2. Akira Yamaoka - Never Forgive Me, Never Forget Me
Simply beautiful. Never Forgive Me, Never Forget Me is a signature song of the Silent Hill series, but that is not what makes it special for me. It's just like Magdalene. Relaxing but sad.
3. Akira Yamaoka - Innocent Moon
Yes, this song does start with a very creepy noise, which can be explained by the fact that the Silent Hill series is a horror series. Still, the rest of the song, although short, is relaxing.
4. Akira Yamaoka - The Terminal Show
This is very similar to the other songs, but it can still be appreciated.
5. Akira Yamaoka - O.R.T.
(My favorite of this list)
This song stands out in the list because it has lyrics. The melancholy delivery of the lyrics is what makes this song special to me. Some lines don't really make sense (Emptiness, dead eyes and lost what you found.), but maybe it just wouldn't sound good if it were another way.
Some lines really hit hard, and I love it.
I'm sorry for making this list a negative one. It really isn't a good first impression, but as I said, it has not been a good day.
